MORE DETAILS
October 13th. Second half of evening devoted to before image capture 'technical matters'. Understanding focal length, f-stop, depth of field, hyper-focal distance, composition, rule of thirds, fill-in flash, use of on camera filters etc.
October 20th. Group image workshop. Members will be asked to bring in one or two unedited 'as shot' images which they feel could be improved - small un-mounted print(s) (A4 or less) and also a card/memory stick with the image file(s) preferably RAW (or JPEG) format. The attendees will split into groups to discuss their images (say 2-3 images per group). The selected images will then be edited cropped etc. by members of the individual groups using Photoshop and laptops. After the break each group will present its 'before and after' images as DPI's for comments/ critique by the other groups.
December 1st. Monthly competition - Open / 'Missing'. This is an open competition . However members wishing to enter the WCPF Knightshayes Trophy competition can submit entries interpreting the subject title of this external trophy competition which is 'Missing'.
2011
January 26th. Photoshop Tutorial. The evening will be devoted to Photoshop and post capture image manipulation and image presentation. If we are suffering from information overload a David Noton DVD will be available to be shown.
February 2nd. Monthly Competition. Set subject - 'Decay'. An opportunity to use your imagination in interpreting the title. The most successful images will be selected to form a panel of 5 images for submission to the WCPF Kingswood Salver Competition.
February 16th. Pat Charlton Trophy. Four prints presented as a panel max. size 16" x20". The image subject demonstrating the author's ability to make creative use of 1. Wide-angle and 2. Telephoto/zoom lenses, 3. Aperture and 4. Shutter speed.
March 2nd. Digital Print of the Year. A digital image which has been manipulated electronically. It may be a composite of two or more images. No part of the image can be imported from sources other than those created by the author.
March 9th. "Tackling Table Tops". Up to four 'sets' with various objects to photograph will be provided. Lighting options will also be provided. The images obtained could be entered in the 'open' monthly competition on April 6th.
