With Natural History as the set subject for a monthly competition in the New Year tonight's speaker, Ron Champion, was guaranteed members' undivided attention, particularly as he will be judging our efforts in due course! Ron's talk provided a wealth of information to help us and we enjoyed viewing the work of an expert in the field.
OCTOBER 7th
Our first monthly competition took place this evening. And a very full evening it was, with seventy five images entered across the three categories, judge Mac Bouchere FRPS had a lot to do.
Peter Bosley won the colour section with a shot of Anstey's Cove taken at first light. Clive Figes took the mono section with another of his stunning portraits, while John White was first in the projected image with a study of a clematis.

Jeff Ashworth was our for this evening's monthly competition. With an open subject, the range of work varied widely and Jeff was finally unable to decide between Jan Lunn and Clive Figes' entries. So, a rare joint first place was awarded in the colour section.
No such problems arose in the mono and another of Clive's portaits took the top slot.
Relative newcomer, Fran Botwood took first place in the projected image catagory.

Ken Holland was the judge this evening as TPS hosted our annual fixture with Plymouth. The prints were judged first and by the end TPS has edged into a 14 point lead, helped by not one, but two scores of 20 points from Peter Bosley!
The projected image section was a much closer affair, so close that by the end the two clubs were level. So, overall, TPS won took the honours and brought the trophy back to back to Torquay.
Torbay 398 - Plymouth 384
